It is not difficult to make Naan bread at home.

10 oz self raising flour
One teaspoon baking powder
One teaspoon sugar*
One large pinch of salt*
One egg
Two tablespoons plain yogurt
One dessert spoon kalonji seeds
(Sometimes called black onion seeds)*
Water to mix
*Can be omitted or varied to taste

Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt and kalonji together in a large bowl. Break in the egg, add the yogurt and stir together. Pour in enough water so the dough can be gathered together into a ball. Knead for 5-10 minutes, wrap the dough in cling film, and leave for a while. 10 minutes if you're in a hurry, an hour or longer if not.

Knead again for a few minutes, roll out into a sausage shape and divide into 6 pieces. Shape each into a ball, then using a rolling pin, roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. Traditionally tear shaped, but round or any shape you can achieve is fine. Heat a tawa (if you have one) or a heavy fying pan, until very hot. Now slap your first naan onto the pan. Wait until bubbles form, then using a spatula, flip the naan over and leave until those bubbles are brown. This should take less than a minute. And that's it. Brush with melted butter to serve, if you wish.
